Verse of the week -- Proverbs 3:5,6

I don't have time today for my regular reflections, although God has continued to teach me plenty this week, but I wanted to share this verse in honor of our newest addition:

Eli Benjamin is just two days old now and I have chosen a chapter to pray through for him. Proverbs 3 is my special prayer for him, and I have been challenged personally by many of these verses as well. Proverbs 3:5,6 are quite well known and say, "5Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. 6In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths."

God is so faithful when we follow Him. I have learned the truths of these verses in a fresh way through this pregnancy and birth. When I was tempted to give in to human worries, God kept calling my back to simply trust Him. It doesn't mean everything will happen the way that seems best or easiest in human terms, but He will provide wisdom and direction.

A special prayer for my new little guy that God would direct each of His steps and he would follow with all his heart. And, I pray the same for each of you that you (and I) would continue to learn to trust Him more with our whole hearts.

5Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding.

6In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.

He's beautiful! Congratulations! I love the name, too. Eli would have been our boy's middle name if we'd had another.

He is adorable! Congratulations! What a wonderful idea to pick a special chapter and prayer for him at birth. I think it is really cool that you can post a picture of your new little one on your blog--When we adopted our youngest 9 1/2 years ago, I don't think blogging even existed!
