Breakfast Picnic

While the current life circumstance may be uncertain or unnerving, there is beauty around us everyday.

Last night, Faith sweetly asked if I would want to join the girls on a photo shoot in the morning at our favorite nearby forest preserve. Of course. I might need to rearrange a workout schedule, but what is that in relation to the gift she was offering.

Little did I know, this was merely a ruse for her real plans.

For over a week she had been plotting, adding to my shopping list surreptitiously to prepare for this day.

Random questions peppered conversations with myself and others - favorite breakfast items, do we have disposable napkins around?, calendar checking, etc.

Figuring out how to prepare a beautiful surprise without leaving the house, and with all her "victims" around her 24/7, and without going shopping.

Challenge accepted and accomplished. She succeeded in creating this beautiful memory and surprising all of us in the process. A memorable mother-daughter May outing.

I am not creative or crafty or even very organized, but regardless of having me as their primary female role model, my girls have each grown a unique style and eye for beauty.

They have a gift for making the everyday beautiful.

And, Faith in particular has an eye for capturing the beauty from behind her camera

While she planned for days, we just showed up and felt loved. A quiet escape from the stress of life with my three favorite ladies.

Every detail attended to - waffles (texting Grandma to get the recipe), toppings, drinks, tableware, name cards. Everything

Something simple in essence - breakfast, on a picnic table, at a forest preserve, became a sweetly crafted memory to be treasured.

Delicious food, grateful hearts, and a scenic backdrop.
