Worship Wednesday - Resurrection

At the very heart of our faith is the impossible truth of the resurrection.

I stumble through I Corinthians 15 as I realize all that God accomplished in the resurrection of Jesus Christ (some past, some present, and some yet future, but all based on the power of the resurrection):
  •  established the truth of resurrection as the first to rise again
  • conquered sin
  • the foundation of the gospel
  • our strength to stand
  • gives confidence to our preaching and our faith
  • gives us a new life apart from the control of sin
  • hope (not just in this life, because that would not be real hope)
  • Life
  • belonging
  • destruction of earthly rule and authority
  • Defeat of enemies
  • Christ's reign
  • destruction of death
  • Purpose
  • a message of hope for our communities and our world
  • sowing of the perishable and raising of imperishable
  • glory
  • power
  • eternity
  • Victory

The very reason that we can be, "steadfast, immovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, knowing that in the Lord your labor is not in vain." (I Corinthians 15:58 ESV)

Of course, the list would be even longer if you looked beyond just that one chapter of Scripture.

The resurrection is the proof, the undeniable evidence for our faith. Many books have proven this beyond doubt, and yet some people don't believe. So, we must keep sharing this hope we have, keep living in light of eternity, keep pressing on for the promise of life, and not let sin and death and fear pull us down.

Christ is risen and because of that I'm alive.
