Prayer Challenge - wrestling in prayer

Setting my mind on Him:

Pray through Scripture: God, help me to wrestle in prayer!
Genesis 32:24-40
Psalm 86
Luke 22:39-46
Colossians 4:12

Confession:
Apathy - not caring enough. Living my culturally appropriate life inside my Christian bubble

Heart of Gratitude:

Colossians 4:2

Response:
Sometimes prayer is like breathing, just walking through our day with God on our lips. Then there are those moments of powerful prayer when we wrestle through each word with God. Those are the prayers that have changed me and changed my life in the past couple years. I realized at some point that my prayers had grown into just talking in my head. Just words. They lacked the focus of with whom I was speaking and the intensity that my requests deserved.

Lately, I've started really wresting in prayer. Take a breath, focus on the eternal God of the universe, and pray believing. Sometimes, often, this changes the pray-er (me), and the request changes as I seek God's best and not selfish demands. Walking in step, or limping in step with the Father, requires times of wrestling.

Lord, God, thank you for Your constant revelation of who You are and Your awesomeness. You know my needs greater than I. You know what's to come and what I need to experience and bear up under now to be ready for it. Help me to constantly rest in Your sovereignty while not sinking into apathy. ~Amen
